Biography

Luca Bettermann holds a BSc and MSc in Mechanical Engineering from ETH Zurich, specializing in Computational Methods, Machine Learning, and Conceptual Design. Since October 2024, he is a doctoral student at the Technical University of Munich, working under Prof. André Borrmann at the Chair of Computational Modeling and Simulation. His research focuses on computational methods and learning algorithms to enhance quality and robustness in Additive Manufacturing.

Biography

I am currently pursuing a Ph.D in Construction Management at Seoul National University, South Korea. I have been actively involved in various research projects, including the development of technologies for collecting and analyzing construction site information, as well as the development of evaluation metrics for diagnosing smart construction maturity. I have demonstrated strong research capabilities by co-authoring two papers published in SCI(E) journals and presenting my research findings at an international academic conference. My expertise and experience demonstrate my deep understanding of smart construction technologies and my commitment to contributing to advancements in the field.

Biography

Hèrm Hofmeyer (1972) is an Associate Professor in Applied Mechanics at the Department of the Built Environment at Eindhoven University of Technology. He received an MSc in Applied Mechanics/Design Systems and a PhD in Applied Mechanics/Steel Structures from Eindhoven University of Technology. He was an invited visiting academic at Queensland University of Technology Brisbane, the University of Stuttgart, the University of Liege, and RWTH Aachen University. He focuses on the application of the finite element method in structural design, and Structural Design Computing: the application of computer science to buildings, their structural systems, and their design process.

Percy Lam is currently a PhD student at the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Future Infrastructure and Built Environment. He commenced his professional career as a civil/geotechnical engineer. Driven by his enthusiasm to facilitate the digitization of infrastructure assets, his PhD research investigates the construction and maintenance of a digital twin for highway networks. He is currently researching on automation in image annotations, synthetic data and road defect detection. His work is supervised by Dr. Lavindra de Silva with sponsorships from National Highways, Costain and Trimble Solutions.

Biography

I am a researcher and Ph.D. candidate specializing in digital construction, Building Information Modeling (BIM), and distributed digital twins (dDTw) within the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry. My research focuses on enhancing interoperability, data sovereignty, and automation in multi-model container frameworks. I have made significant contributions to the development of dynamic multi-model containers, advancing the Information Container for Linked Document Delivery (ICDD) by transforming it from a static to a dynamic system. My work integrates graph-based databases, artificial intelligence (AI), and semantic web technologies to improve data linking, collaboration, and decision-making in cloud-based environments.

Serdar Erişen is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Technical University of Munich, an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Architecture at Hacettepe University, and an architect with a Ph.D. (2021), M.Arch. (2013), and B.Arch. (2011) from Middle East Technical University. He studied new human-technology relations and intelligent spaces in his doctoral research (2021). He is interested in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision, intelligent systems and smart city projects, technopoles, smart campuses, renewable energy sources, urban environments, technology, and architectural design.
